Who Purified and Distilled Water Is For

Truckload purified and distilled water is for businesses, plants, labs, and facilities that use water in volume and need it purified or distilled rather than straight from a tap or a municipal load. Buyers of high-purity water commonly include battery and backup-power operators, laboratories, and industrial rinse and cooling-system users.

If what you want is a cooler in the break room or five-gallon bottles at the house, that is the bottled water route, which runs separately.

Purified or distilled, by the truck

Water Transport has been in bottled water since 1984 and in bulk water since 1977. Purified and distilled water can be ordered in full truck loads as well as by the bottle. Bulk and bottled are different services with different trucks and different tickets.

Tell dispatch whether you want purified or distilled water, how much you need, and where it is going. The load is then scheduled and matched to a truck from Hopedale.

Purified vs. distilled water: what the labels mean

“Purified” is a broad label. Water can be purified by distillation, reverse osmosis, ion exchange (deionization), or a combination, so two purified products can differ. Distilled water is one kind of purified water: it is boiled to steam and condensed, which leaves very few dissolved minerals.

Laboratories often work to a graded standard. ASTM D1193 defines four reagent water types, mostly by resistivity and organic carbon, and distilled, deionized, and reverse osmosis water can each meet different types. If your process, your equipment maker, or your quality plan names a grade or a limit, give it to dispatch with the order so the product on the ticket matches the spec.

What bulk purified and distilled water is used for

High-purity water is used wherever minerals cause trouble. Common uses include topping off industrial and forklift batteries and backup power systems, laboratory reagents and rinsing, flushing and filling cooling systems, steam equipment where mineral scale is a concern, and industrial rinse steps. Tell dispatch what the water is for, and they can help decide whether purified or distilled fits.

For drinking-quality municipal water, see Potable Water Delivery. For process or volume work where the spec is open, see Freshwater Delivery. Purified and distilled water is a different product from both.

How big a truckload is

Bulk water tankers in the industry commonly hold several thousand gallons, with highway-legal stainless tankers often in the range of roughly 5,000 to 10,000 gallons. Tell dispatch the volume you need and whether it repeats, and they will plan the truck around it. If your volume is smaller than a truck, ask whether the bottled water route fits better.

Receiving the load without losing purity

The receiving tank or system matters as much as the water. Purified and distilled water picks up minerals and contaminants quickly from a dirty tank, a worn hose, or a fitting that was used for something else. Use a clean, dedicated tank, confirm the connection type with dispatch, and have someone meet the truck.
