Where the trucks start
Hopedale sits on U.S. Route 22, where State Route 151 meets the highway. Steubenville is about 18 miles east along State Route 22, which is how the company measures it. From the yard, the same road carries the tankers east toward the river towns and the bottled trucks out on their routes.
Because the yard is here, a household in the village is the closest stop on any schedule. Drivers already know the tight yards around Hopedale and the lanes that run off the highway.
A company that began with a milk truck
Michael Kuester founded Water Transport in 1977. He saw rural accounts that needed bulk water, bought a milk truck, and ran it with stainless tanks and dairy sanitation instead of a rusty steel pot. The company entered bottled water in 1984, and the private-label route it built then still runs. The energy division opened in 2010 for Utica work in the same counties.
The village itself was platted in 1849. Past the village limits, much of Harrison County is farms and hills, the kind of country where a cistern or an old well is a normal part of a house.
Loading at the Wintersville station
The yard is home base, but potable bulk is loaded at the Wintersville station, supplied by Jefferson County Water & Sewer. A tanker heading out for a cistern or a pool fill picks up its municipal water there and then drives to the customer. Bottled water is a separate truck on a separate route.
Reaching the office
Hopedale is reached from U.S. Route 22, and State Route 151 meets the highway in the village. The office at 100 Sammi Drive is the company’s address, and the number to call is (740) 264-9999. Questions about an account, a route stop, or a quote all begin with the same dispatch desk, whether the delivery is down the road in the village or two states away. Weekday hours run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Services in Hopedale
- Cistern water delivery. For properties outside the village water line, a tanker fill keeps a household cistern from running dry.
- Pool water delivery. A tanker leaving the yard can fill a new liner or top off a pool at the start of the season.
- Purified and distilled bottled water. The bottled route starts at the yard, so a stop in Hopedale is as local as it gets.
- Freshwater delivery for rural and industrial sites. Large rural fills and pad work in Harrison County run from the same fleet on a volume ticket.
